Introduction of the New Device
To assist authorities in reaching their destinations as quickly as possible, an innovative device has been introduced for emergency vehicles. This device, launched by Sharjah Police, transmits messages to drivers through the car radio system, notifying them of the approaching emergency or patrol vehicle so they can make way.
Guidance from Police Leadership
According to Brigadier Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of Central Operations for the Police, this innovative device has been implemented following the directives of Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, the Chief of Sharjah Police. He added that it will ensure rapid responses to emergencies and assist authorities in reaching their destinations as swiftly as possible.
Features of the New System
The new system will operate alongside sirens and lights equipped on all emergency and patrol vehicles. It will transmit radio messages in multiple languages, programmed to deliver three types of audio clips:
- Driver Alert: Notifying drivers of the approaching emergency or police vehicle.
- Emergency Vehicle Stopped: Informing drivers that the emergency or police vehicle is stopped ahead.
- Request to Stop: Asking drivers to halt when an emergency or police vehicle approaches an intersection.
Call for Compliance
Brigadier Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi urged drivers to always make way for police and emergency vehicles, as well as official convoy vehicles. He reminded that those who fail to comply with these instructions will face a fine of 3,000 AED, six black points on their driving record, and their vehicle will be impounded for 30 days.
