Jaguar F-Pace Review - Jaguar's First SUV
Jaguar Land Rover hosted a special event to launch their first SUV, the F-Pace. The event took place in Montenegro, also known as the Black Mountain, and was exclusively for journalists. A total of 170 media representatives from around the world attended, with Jaguar reserving the entire month of April for this occasion. Among them were 30 journalists from the Middle East, including myself. Let me share my personal experience.
Key Specifications:
- Engine: 3.0L V6
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Power: 380 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque
- Top Speed: 250 km/h
- Price for this model: 323,000 AED
Exterior Design
The Jaguar F-Pace embodies the essence of Jaguar. Its exterior design clearly draws inspiration from the sedan models XE and XF. It boasts a sporty, aggressive, and masculine appearance, successfully capturing the attention of both men and women. The design is stunning; it blends well with other vehicles while also standing out as unique. If I had to critique something, it would be the rear air diffuser, which appears somewhat cheap.
Interior and Safety
The F-Pace interior is consistent with other Jaguar models, which is a positive aspect. The vehicle is practical, comfortably accommodating adult passengers in the rear, with ample head and legroom for someone up to 6 feet tall. Additionally, the trunk space is significantly larger than that of the Porsche Macan, almost doubling its capacity. In terms of technology, it features a new entertainment system with a 10.2-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital display, powered by an Intel Quad Processor. It also supports 3G connectivity and allows for smartphone integration. As this entertainment system is new, occasional glitches can be expected. Regarding safety, it includes all essential features such as BSD, LDA, ABS, airbags, and a rear camera, among others. Overall, its features are impressive and will satisfy its customers.
Driving Experience
Jaguar has focused on utilizing aluminum, which is evident in its driving dynamics. The F-Pace offers a fierce yet comfortable drive akin to that of sedans and handles turns with ease. Despite the inclement weather during our test drive, it impressed all of us. Our model was fully equipped with a 3.0L V6 supercharged engine, delivering 380 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The driving experience was remarkably smooth. We also tested it off-road and felt the stiffness of the suspension; I believe a lighter setup would enhance the driving experience. Nonetheless, the stability, dynamics, and power made driving a true pleasure.
Conclusion
Jaguar has introduced a gem to the automotive world with the F-Pace. With some minor adjustments, it could reign supreme in the luxury crossover segment.
