Introduction
Kia has unveiled the first official images of the EV6, its inaugural fully battery-electric vehicle, built on the company’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
Innovative Design
The EV6 will be Kia’s first modern battery electric vehicle developed under the new design philosophy, reflecting the company’s shift towards electrification.
Design Perspective
Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Design Center at Kia, stated: "The EV6 embodies our brand goals, our slogan 'Movement that Inspires,' and our new design philosophy. This vehicle is designed to be a source of inspiration in every journey, providing a seamless and natural experience that enhances our customers' daily lives, making ownership simple, easy, and integrated. Our aim is to create a physical experience that expresses our brand identity, and to develop bold, original, and innovative electric vehicles."
New Naming Strategy
As part of Kia's brand transformation, new battery electric vehicles will be named according to a new strategy, ensuring simplicity and consistency across the names of Kia's electric vehicles in global markets.
All Kia electric vehicles will begin with the prefix "EV" (short for Electric Vehicle), making it easier for customers to identify fully electric Kia cars, followed by a number that indicates the vehicle's position within the electric vehicle lineup.
Global Launch
The design and engineering of the EV6 reflect Kia's new promotional phrase "Movement that Inspires," with a global reveal scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.
