The Russian automaker AvtoVAZ, owner of the iconic LADA brand, has announced the launch of the updated LADA Niva Sport. This exciting new SUV arrives with a sporty design and rally-inspired technology, bringing a fresh dimension to the legendary Niva lineup.
A Long-Standing Off-Road Legacy
The LADA Niva remains one of the most enduring off-road vehicles on the market. Since its initial production in 1976, the Niva has continued with minimal major changes. While the global market has seen eight generations of vehicles like the Volkswagen Golf, the Niva has maintained its unique design and exceptional performance.
Rally-Inspired Engineering
LADA has revealed that the Niva Sport draws inspiration from a rally car that competed in the 2024 Silk Road Rally—the Asian counterpart to the Paris-Dakar Rally, covering over 5,000 kilometers across Russia and Mongolia.
The Niva Sport is powered by a robust gasoline engine delivering 122 horsepower, a significant upgrade from the traditional Niva’s 83 horsepower. This impressive 50% increase in power is complemented by a torque output of 151 Nm, enhancing the SUV’s performance both on and off the road.
Enhanced Design for Tougher Terrains
With a compact length of just 3.7 meters and a weight of 1,285 kilograms, the Niva Sport is built to tackle demanding off-road challenges. The transmission has been redesigned to include a reinforced fifth gear for higher-speed driving, while improvements to the suspension and braking systems boost both stability and safety.
Advanced Technology and Easier Control
The Niva Sport replaces its traditional transfer case controls with a new system, allowing drivers to operate the central differential lock and off-road gears using a single gear lever. This upgrade ensures smoother and more intuitive handling on every adventure.
Specialized Production and Rigorous Testing
Production of the LADA Niva Sport has commenced at LADA Sport LLC, a subsidiary of AvtoVAZ. The initial batches are dedicated to comprehensive testing to guarantee the vehicle’s readiness for a variety of conditions.
