Lightweight Performance is a German tuning company founded in 2010, known for its bold modifications that enhance both the appearance and performance of vehicles beyond the original manufacturer capabilities. The German tuner replaced the stock engine of the M2 with the BMW 3.0L S55 engine, which is also found in the M3 and M4 models. They added a water injection system, swapped the turbocharger, upgraded the exhaust system, and improved the air intakes to enhance the car's dynamic performance and engine cooling.
Performance Output
The final output of the modified vehicle was a remarkable power generation of 610 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. However, after testing, the tuner discovered that the chassis of the M2 could not handle this level of power, leading to a reduction to 590 horsepower and 738 Nm of torque. In comparison, the stock model produces 365 horsepower, showcasing an impressive increase of 225 horsepower.
Weight Reduction
True to its name, "Lightweight," the company managed to reduce the car's weight by 195 kg from the standard M2 weight of 1,371 kg. This was achieved by utilizing lightweight carbon fiber components in various parts of the car, along with replacing the transmission with a lighter 6-speed manual option and an available 7-speed automatic transmission.
