Maserati Levante: A New Luxury SUV in the Market
Following the unveiling of its exterior design, Maserati officially launched the all-new Levante at the Geneva Motor Show. With this model, Maserati aims to penetrate the luxury SUV market, currently dominated by German manufacturers. As the trend shifts towards crossovers and premium crossovers, Maserati seeks to establish its presence in this segment as well. In my opinion, this is a wise move.
Vehicle Design
The Levante appears to be a blend of the Infiniti FX and Porsche Cayenne. Its aggressive front is characterized by a prominent grille showcasing the Maserati emblem and sharp-edged headlights. The side and rear profiles give it a more luxurious appearance. Overall, the Levante is built on the Ghibli platform.
Engine Performance
This is evident from the engine options. The Levante SUV features a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine available in two versions:
- Standard Levante: 350 horsepower
- S Model: 430 horsepower
Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, with an all-wheel-drive system, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds for the standard model and 5.2 seconds for the S model.
Handling and Off-Road Performance
Maserati dispels any doubts about the Levante's off-road capabilities. They assert that it has no competitors in terms of handling and boasts excellent off-road performance. However, in the Gulf region, similar to other luxury SUVs, the chances of purchasing this vehicle for off-road driving are "zero." Therefore, for those seeking a vehicle primarily for regular roads, it's worth noting that the Levante offers a computer system that manages valves and a 50/50 weight distribution for high-speed cornering.
Interior and Technology
The interior features high-quality materials from Maserati, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, collision warning, automatic braking, lane departure warning, and a 360-degree camera.
Price and Availability
The price of the Levante is approximately 280,000 AED, and it is expected to arrive in the second half of this year.
