Launch of the New Toyota Mirai

Al-Futtaim Toyota recently unveiled its latest innovative eco-friendly technologies at Expo 2020 Dubai, one of the world's most significant events. The new generation of the Toyota Mirai was introduced as the official vehicle for the Japan Pavilion at the exhibition.

This modern electric vehicle is powered by hydrogen fuel cells and features innovative technologies that provide a completely electric driving experience, boasting the highest efficiency in its class with zero carbon emissions. This underscores Al-Futtaim Toyota's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality and ensuring mobility freedom for everyone.

A Special Occasion for the Vehicle Launch

The Toyota Mirai, chosen to embody craftsmanship and innovation, arrived at the pavilion during a special event held recently. The new generation of this vehicle will provide a qualitative solution for the transportation of staff at the Japan Pavilion during the long-awaited Expo 2020 Dubai, which has garnered admiration from audiences worldwide since it opened its doors to visitors in early October.

Statements from Officials

On this occasion, Ki Fujita, Chief Representative of Toyota's Regional Office for the Middle East and Central Asia, stated: "It is a great honor for the Toyota Mirai to be selected as the official vehicle for the Japan Pavilion at such a global event. The theme of Expo 2020 Dubai, 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future', revolves around sustainability, mobility, and opportunities, all of which align with Toyota's vision for a better world."

He added: "There is a strong interest in the region regarding hydrogen as a source of clean energy, which gives special significance to the participation of the Toyota Mirai. Hydrogen fuel cells are one of the many diverse technologies we are developing as part of our efforts to achieve a carbon-neutral society and mobility freedom for everyone."

Design and Theme

The Japan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai adopted the slogan "Where Ideas Meet," reflecting how external influences have historically evolved Japanese culture through the embrace of ideas from around the world, transforming them into something new that retains a Japanese essence.

In line with this principle, the pavilion's design combines Arabic decoration with the Japanese "Asanoha" pattern, creating a stunning form that reflects the art of traditional Japanese paper folding, known as "origami".

Comments from the Japan Pavilion Commissioner

Ms. Tomiatsu Nakamura, the Commissioner General at the Japan Pavilion, remarked: "We are delighted to be here in Dubai to showcase the Japanese solutions we are developing based on innovative ideas for a better tomorrow. The word 'Mirai' in Japanese means 'future', and the vehicle's name aligns with the pavilion's focus on creating a sustainable, safer future that is accessible to everyone."

She continued: "To achieve this, we must first learn from the challenges our country has faced, using them as a lens to examine the world's problems, and then share ideas on how to overcome them and move forward. We are thrilled to have Toyota by our side on this inspiring journey and look forward to exploring the significant opportunities that an event of this magnitude provides by bringing people together to celebrate global human creativity."

Refueling the Vehicle

The Toyota Mirai designated for the Japan Pavilion will be refueled at a mobile hydrogen station supported by Air Products, located at Al-Futtaim's vehicle premises in Dubai.
