The Sonet is the latest compact SUV designed for urban settings, representing Kia's newest addition to its global lineup, and is produced in India at Kia's advanced manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

Global Launch
The global launch of the production-ready vehicle follows the unveiling of the Sonet's design at the Delhi Auto Expo in February 2020. Sales of the new car will soon begin in India, followed by various Kia markets worldwide.

- 1.5-liter Diesel Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDi) engine
Transmission Options
These engines will be paired with five transmission options, including:
- Five-speed and six-speed manual transmissions
- Seven-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT)
- Six-speed automatic transmission
- New six-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT)
The Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) represents a significant technological advancement by Kia, offering stress-free driving without a clutch pedal while maintaining the excellent control associated with traditional manual transmissions.

For the first time in this vehicle category, the Sonet will offer a 1.5-liter diesel engine with a six-speed automatic transmission.
