Overview of New Regulations

The Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate has announced that starting Sunday, motorcycles will be fined Dh200, incur three black points, and face impoundment for one week for wrong overtaking.

Traffic Violations Statistics

According to Brigadier Hassan Ahmad Al Harthi, director of the Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate:

  • 32 motorcycle accidents have occurred this year.
  • A total of 936 tickets have been issued for various traffic violations.

Implementation of New Law

This new law will be enforced across the emirate of Abu Dhabi. There will be patrol cars and cameras deployed to assist in identifying and arresting violators.

Exceptions to the Law

The only exception to this new law applies to Saa'ed motorcyclists.

Road Safety Campaign

The Abu Dhabi police are launching a campaign titled "A Summer without Accidents", urging all motorcyclists to wear complete safety gear to prevent potential harm. The police emphasized that:

  • Motorcycle accidents cause 35 times more damage to individuals compared to accidents involving other vehicles.
