About the New Salik Gate
The new Salik Gate will soon commence operations on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. This will be the latest addition to the existing Salik gates on Sheikh Zayed Road, with locations in Jebel Ali, near the Dubai Metro station.
Details of the New Gate Implementation
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has confirmed that the construction of this new gate (toll gate) has already begun. Drivers on both sides of Sheikh Zayed Road will be affected by this implementation and will need to pay when passing through. The new gate is scheduled to open on October 24, 2018.
Importance of the New Gate
According to the RTA, the addition of the new Salik Gate is a strategic step aimed at reducing congestion and facilitating smoother traffic flow on the busy Sheikh Zayed Road. The authority believes that the implementation of the third Salik gate will be sufficient to encourage more people to opt for public transport.
Statements from the RTA Director General
Mattar Al Tayer, the Director General and Chairman of the Executive Council of the RTA, stated:
"The RTA aims, through the installation of this new gate (toll gate) in Jebel Ali, to redistribute traffic and divert part of the traffic from Jebel Ali towards Sharjah and other Emirates. Drivers will be able to use alternative routes such as:
- Emirates Road
- Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road
- Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Road
- Al Khail Road
Additionally, other existing Salik gates in Dubai are located at:
- Al Mamzar
- Airport Tunnel
- Al Garhoud Bridge
- Maktoum Bridge
- Al Safa
- Al Barsha
