New Traffic Violations and Fines in Dubai

Recently, the Dubai government introduced new traffic laws and violations aimed at enhancing road safety. This decision aligns with a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. Effective from July 6, 2023, these traffic laws impose stricter penalties on violators.

Violators of these traffic laws may face fines up to AED 100,000, along with stricter vehicle impoundment rules. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and adhere to these amended laws, particularly regarding vehicle maintenance and modifications.

The Dubai Police and the Dubai government prioritize road safety by implementing these stringent measures. Non-compliance with the updated traffic laws can lead to substantial financial penalties and the accumulation of black points on driving records.

It is essential for individuals to familiarize themselves with these new traffic violations in Dubai to ensure compliance and avoid the risk of penalties or vehicle confiscation.

Below is a list of new traffic violations in Dubai, along with fines required to release vehicles from impoundment:

Engaging in street racing without a permit from the Dubai Police will incur a fine of AED 100,000 to release your vehicle from impoundment, as it poses significant risks to people, vehicles, and everything surrounding the road.

Committing any of the following traffic violations will result in a fine of AED 50,000 to release your vehicle from police custody:

  • Driving recklessly, endangering the safety of others on the road.
  • Intentionally damaging police vehicles.
  • Driving a vehicle under the legal age (18).
  • Running a red light.

Traffic Violation with a Fine of AED 10,000 in Dubai

If you violate any of the following traffic laws, you must pay a fine of AED 10,000 to release your vehicle from impoundment:

  • Fleeing from or evading the Dubai Police.
  • Driving your vehicle without a number plate.
  • Making unauthorized modifications to the vehicle, which increase speed or amplify sound levels.

  • Gathering drivers for unauthorized and chaotic road rallies.

Additional Fines and Procedures Including Deportation

This serves as a reminder for individuals who may have thought that leaving their vehicle in the police impound lot would go without consequences. After the impound period ends, if the owner fails to pay the specified fees and retrieve the vehicle, an additional charge of AED 50 per day will be imposed for each day the vehicle remains in the impound lot.

Additionally, the recently enforced fines and traffic laws in Dubai state that non-UAE drivers operating heavy vehicles will face deportation if they run a red light.
