New Updates for the Tiguan by Volkswagen

Volkswagen Tiguan

Introduction

The Tiguan from Volkswagen is Europe’s best-selling SUV and one of the top-selling SUVs worldwide, with over six million units produced to date. In 2019, it once again topped the sales charts among Volkswagen vehicles, with around 911,000 units manufactured. The leading SUV is now undergoing a comprehensive update.

Executive Statements

Ralf Brandstätter, Chief Operating Officer and CEO of the Volkswagen brand, stated: "We launched our global SUV strategy with the second generation Tiguan in 2016, which laid the foundation for many successful models worldwide. Volkswagen is now taking the next step by introducing the new Tiguan model, ready for the era of electric powertrains and advanced digital connectivity, ensuring this compact SUV meets modern challenges."

Tiguan Design

Vehicle Design

The new front design is one of the key highlights of the latest Tiguan model. Klaus Zyciora, Head of Design at the Volkswagen Group and Chief Designer for Volkswagen passenger cars, remarked:

"The front grille of the new Volkswagen SUV serves as a visual symbol connecting the Tiguan with larger models like the Touareg and Atlas Cross Sport sold in North America. It gives the new Tiguan a confident appearance."

The hood has been raised compared to previous models, and the new front grille has been widened, complemented by LED headlights, with the new Volkswagen logo positioned centrally. The attractive bumpers have also been redesigned, featuring the model name "Tiguan" prominently on the rear bumper beneath the Volkswagen emblem, along with a revised "4MOTION" logo for all-wheel-drive versions.

Interior Cabin

Inside, Volkswagen has introduced a new touch-sensitive climate control unit. In addition to touch buttons, large illuminated touch sliders are used to control fan speed and temperature. Optional touch buttons can also activate functions such as:

  • Seating systems
  • Rear windows
  • Heated windshield
  • Access to the air conditioning menu

A digital version of the new multifunction steering wheel comes with touch controls and illuminated touch sliders as optional equipment. Additionally, USB-C ports are conveniently placed under the climate control unit.
