New Volkswagen Beetle Review: Outstanding Design and Performance
The Volkswagen Beetle has been around for nearly 20 years, having undergone a redesign in 1997 as the new Beetle. It gained significant popularity, especially among the youth, as this hatchback returned with a more attractive look. No longer the small car it once was, the Beetle saw further changes in 2010, which we will explore in this review.

Exterior Design
At first glance, the new Beetle may not look drastically different from the old model. However, upon closer inspection, you will notice some differences. The new Beetle sits lower than its predecessor, and its design features a more aggressive stance. The model I tested is an exclusive variant equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, and daytime running lights. Overall, while it maintains the classic Beetle design, it still manages to exude elegance.
Interior
The interior resembles that of other Volkswagen models, providing a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience. The exclusive model comes equipped with:
- Leather seats
- Climate control
- Parking assist
- Navigation system
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Turbo gauge
- Glossy material on the dashboard
The seats are visually appealing, with a pleasant texture that complements the practical interior design. Overall, there are no complaints.
Driving Experience
Now, here comes the exciting part. This car features a 2.0L turbocharged engine similar to that found in the GTI, delivering 210 horsepower. It comes with a 6-speed DSG transmission and front-wheel drive. I found the driving experience reminiscent of that of the Golf GTI, which is both surprising and delightful, considering it shares the same platform as the Jetta. Lower the top and cruise the streets, and you will enjoy both fun and control.
Summary
This was my first experience with the Volkswagen Beetle, and my summary is that it is a youthful and enjoyable car.
