Opel Corsa-e: The World's First Electric Rally Car

Introduction
Following in the footsteps of Formula E and other electric motorsport disciplines, Opel has unveiled the Corsa-e, the world's first electric rally car. This groundbreaking vehicle is set to make its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will compete in the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup for 2020, replacing the current Opel Adam R2. The ADAC Rally Cup serves as a gateway for young drivers from 18 countries to enter the world of rally racing.

Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Opel, stated: "The Corsa-e is the electric car for everyone – it is perfectly suited for daily use and is extremely affordable, in addition to being a great fit for motorsport. The new Corsa is particularly fun and dynamic to drive. By using a production car as a base, we are the first car manufacturer in the world to develop an electric rally car."
Technical Specifications
The Corsa-e is equipped with an electric motor that delivers 134 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque, powered by a 50 kWh battery. Reports indicate that Opel plans to produce 15 units of the Corsa-e for the ADAC Rally Cup in 2020 and 2021, with a price tag of approximately 200,000 AED.
