Every petrol grade rose AED 0.20 a litre and diesel rose AED 0.50. A 60-litre fill-up now costs AED 12 more on petrol and AED 30 more on diesel than in August.
Key Takeaways
For September 2026, Super 98 costs AED 3.80 a litre, Special 95 AED 3.69, E-Plus 91 AED 3.61 and diesel AED 4.30.
Every petrol grade rose AED 0.20 a litre (+5.6% to +5.9%). Diesel rose AED 0.50 (+13.2%), more than twice as fast.
An illustrative 60-litre fill-up costs AED 12 more on petrol and AED 30 more on diesel than in August.
This is the second monthly rise in a row: since July, Super 98 is up 11.8% and diesel 19.4%.
Late-August oil weakness did not bring a cut, so budget for monthly swings rather than a fixed rate.
September Rates: Petrol Up AED 0.20, Diesel Up AED 0.50

What the Increase Costs You at the Pump
Per litre, the change looks small, but it adds up at the pump. An illustrative 60-litre fill-up costs AED 12 more on any petrol grade and AED 30 more on diesel than it did in August.
At September rates, a 60-litre diesel fill-up costs AED 258.00, against AED 216.60 to AED 228.00 on petrol.
Cost of a 60-Litre Fill-Up in September 2026

Fuel grade | September 2026 cost |
|---|---|
Diesel | AED 258.00 |
Super 98 | AED 228.00 |
Special 95 | AED 221.40 |
E-Plus 91 | AED 216.60 |

Weekly petrol fill-up: AED 48 more a month, based on four 60-litre fill-ups.
Weekly diesel fill-up: AED 120 more a month on the same basis.
Any amount of driving: every 100 litres costs AED 20 more on petrol and AED 50 more on diesel.
Work Out Your Own Extra Fuel Cost
Take the litres you bought last month from your fuel receipts or card statement, divide by 100, then multiply by AED 20 for petrol or AED 50 for diesel. That is roughly what the September rates add to a month like it.
Diesel Drivers Are Hit Hardest
In July and August, diesel cost AED 0.20 a litre more than Super 98. In September the gap is AED 0.50, so diesel is now clearly the most expensive fuel per litre, even against the top petrol grade.
That lands hardest on owners of diesel pick-ups, large SUVs and work vehicles. Their percentage increase, 13.2%, is more than twice what petrol drivers face (5.6% to 5.9%).
Choosing Between Petrol and Diesel Versions? Look Past the Pump Price
The wider diesel premium is worth factoring in, but per-litre prices ignore fuel economy. Compare each version's real consumption before deciding which is cheaper to run.

Two Rises in a Row, but Petrol Is Still Below June
Prices have now climbed for two consecutive months, with diesel pulling away from the petrol grades.

August added a uniform AED 0.20 a litre on July, and September added the same again on petrol. Since July, Super 98 is up AED 0.40 (+11.8%) and diesel is up AED 0.70 (+19.4%).
July itself brought a cut of between AED 0.55 and AED 1.09 a litre depending on the grade, which puts June's Super 98 rate at AED 3.95 or higher. September's AED 3.80 is therefore at least AED 0.15 below June.
Petrol has not returned to spring levels, though. Super 98 costs AED 0.41 a litre more than in April, the month YallaMotor reported as the largest single-month rise in UAE history and linked to the near-closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Diesel's AED 4.30 is below the AED 4.62–4.69 our April coverage reported.
Why Late-August Oil Weakness Didn't Bring a Cut
On 27 August, with Brent crude at around USD 86–87 a barrel, our outlook saw room for a stable or moderately lower September rate. It illustrated Special 95 at AED 3.39 and said plainly that this was not an official prediction. The committee set AED 3.69: AED 0.30 a litre higher, or AED 18 more per 60 litres.
The reason is how UAE prices are set. The committee reviews international markets every month, and the direction of oil across the whole month matters more than any single day's move. Pump prices also don't follow Brent crude one-to-one.
Budget for Swings, Not a Fixed Rate
Each of the last three monthly reviews moved prices by at least AED 0.20 a litre: down in July, up in August and September. If fuel is a large part of your monthly spending, plan for moves of that size in either direction, and wait for the committee's announcement before counting on a cut.

How We Worked This Out
August and September rates are the UAE Fuel Price Committee's official prices, published by WAM. July rates come from YallaMotor's monthly price table. April figures come from our April coverage, which disagrees on diesel (AED 4.62 or AED 4.69), so we show that as a range and use it in no calculation. Changes are September minus August; percentages divide each change by the earlier rate. Fill-up and monthly figures multiply the per-litre change by an illustrative 60 litres and four fill-ups a month, not by typical consumption. June's floor adds July's smallest reported cut (AED 0.55) to July's rate.
Assumptions used in our calculations:
Illustrative fill-up: 60 litres — A round illustration for comparing grades, the same size our 27 August outlook used. It is not a typical tank size.
Illustrative fill-ups per month: 4 fill-ups — One fill-up a week, for illustration only.
Budgeting block: 100 litres — A round quantity that makes the per-litre change easy to scale to any driver's own usage.
