Event Overview
The Red Bull Car Park Drift is set to return to the United Arab Emirates for the sixth consecutive year, with the historic old port of Ajman serving as the stunning backdrop for this year’s final Qualifier.
Event Date and Significance
Scheduled for 25th November 2016, the winner of the UAE Qualifier will secure a spot in the Red Bull Car Park Drift Final, which will take place in Oman on December 9th 2016.
Previous Winners and Competitors
After visiting countries like Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Mauritius, Tunisia, Lebanon, Morocco, Jordan, and Bahrain, all eyes will be on Nissan Silvia driver Ahmad Daham, the reigning UAE King of Drift, who has won the event for the past two years.
Judging Criteria
Judges will evaluate contestants on a total of 400 points, distributed as follows:
- 160 points for drifting skills
- 40 points for car sound
- 40 points for tire smoke
- 40 points for drifting into the box without hitting the cones
- 60 points for the presentation of the car
- 60 points for the driver’s skills in hitting the apex around the bends
Historical Context
The Red Bull Car Park Drift traces its origins back to Lebanon in 2008, where the first event was held at the City Mall car park. This event provided underground drifters a platform to showcase their skills in a controlled environment, moving drifting off the streets.

“After six years of the Red Bull Car Park Drift qualifiers, and three consecutive Finals in the UAE, the competition keeps getting tougher, and so the track is even more difficult than last year,” said Abdo Feghali, Race Director and regional drifting legend.
