Announcement of New Parking Fees
In an announcement made over the weekend, Sharjah Municipality stated that an additional 5,867 parking spaces in various parts of the emirate will be subjected to parking fees on all days, including Fridays and public holidays. This initiative, part of the second phase, aims to provide more parking spaces for residents and visitors by ensuring their availability at all times and preventing misuse.
Details of the New Parking Areas
Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, Director of the Public Parking Department, mentioned that the parking lots subjected to fees are marked with blue signs. These areas include:
- All streets in Al Ghuwair area
- Internal streets in Al Shuwaihiyyin
- Al Zahra Street in Al Musalla and Al Ghuwair areas
- Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street in Al Nabba, Al Ghuwair, Al Majarah, and Al Shuwaihiyyen areas
- Al Marija Street in Al Mureija and Al Jubail areas
- Al Wehda Street in Al Nahda and Al Majaz 2 areas
- Al Corniche Street in Al Majaz 1, 2, and 3
- Jamal Abdul Nasser Street in both directions in Al Majaz 2
- Al Ittihad Street in Al Nahda area
Parking Payment Options
According to Abu Ghazin, Sharjah Municipality provides motorists with over 50,000 prepaid parking spaces in the emirate. Additionally, work is ongoing to add another 3,500 parking spaces in the areas of Al Khan and Al Mamzar. Motorists can pay parking fees in Sharjah through various methods, including:
- Using coins at top-up machines
- Via SMS
- Through prepaid cards
- Using an electronic portfolio that will be launched soon
