Rafid Service by Sharjah Police: Simplifying Accident Reporting
Introduction of Rafid Service
Replacing the existing Saeed service that attends to traffic accidents in the emirate of Sharjah, Police have launched a new service, Rafid, whose team and app will be operational from 14th May 2018. Owned by the government of Sharjah, details about response times and fees to attend to accidents will be announced closer to the date.
Benefits of the Rafid App
Major General Al Shamisi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, stated: “It will be an easy and simple way to report accidents in the emirate. It will reduce processing time as motorists will receive the police report via email and they can present it to the insurance company directly.”
The benefit of the app is that motorists will not be required to wait for police patrols to report minor traffic accidents. After sending a picture of the accident through the app, traffic experts will assess the accident and issue the report accordingly.
Features of the Rafid App
In addition to plate and license numbers, photos of the accident, and emails of both parties involved, the app will provide:
- Step-by-step information in both Arabic and English
- Details such as the exact location of the accident
- The nearest police station, which will issue the report
Coverage Area
When launched in May, Rafid will cover all areas of Sharjah, including Sharjah city, as well as the central and eastern regions.
