New Laws Against Smoking
The General Directorate of Traffic in Dubai has announced that drivers who throw lit cigarettes from their vehicles will incur 4 black points on their traffic record, along with a fine of 500 AED. These penalties fall under the new federal law combating smoking in the United Arab Emirates.
Smoking Inside Cars
Major General stated that some drivers have already faced penalties, and by early 2014, another law will be implemented that completely prohibits smoking inside cars.
The Importance of Protecting Children
Al Zafin added that parents and relatives who smoke inside cars are committing an offense against their children, which has prompted the introduction of strict laws addressing this issue.
Additional Penalties
He also pointed out that there is a law imposing a fine of 500 AED and 4 black points for those who throw cigarettes from their cars, noting that he personally penalized some drivers for such offenses.
