Unveiling the Mercedes AMG ONE: The Ultimate Hypercar
Introduction
Back in 2017, Mercedes shocked the world with a hypercar that would bring F1-like performance to the road - the AMG ONE. Five years since its reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes has announced that the mind-boggling hypercar has entered production. Why are we using the words ‘mind-boggling’? Then sit back and let your mind be blown by the AMG ONE’s performance numbers.
Performance Specifications
Engine and Powertrain
The AMG ONE features an F1-derived V6 turbo hybrid engine that has been slightly modified to meet Euro 6 emissions standards. The powertrain consists of:
- A single-turbo V6 engine producing 566 horsepower.
- A quartet of electric motors:
- Two front-wheel motors generating a combined 322 hp.
- A third motor contributing 161 hp to the crankshaft.
- A fourth motor linked to the turbocharger that adds 121 hp.
Battery and Electric Range
The AMG ONE also features an 8.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, allowing the car to travel 11 miles (18 kilometers) on electric power alone. The powertrain redlines at an astonishing 11,000 rpm.
Acceleration and Speed
As a result of its advanced engineering:
- 0-60 mph takes just 2.9 seconds.
- 0-124 mph can be achieved in only 7 seconds.
- The top speed reaches up to 219 mph (352 km/h).
Production Details
This engineering marvel has received the approval of seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton. It will be assembled at Mercedes AMG’s facility in Coventry, UK, with the quad e-motor setup produced by the Mercedes High Performance Powertrains division in Brixworth.
