Prodrive Hunter T1: The Dakar Rally Car for the Road Available in UAE
Introduction
A few months ago, we introduced you to the Prodrive Hunter T1 - a Dakar rally car for the road, which is lauded as the “Ferrari of the desert” by Prodrive’s chairman. Now, the British-based firm has announced that the order books are open for the Hunter T1 in the UAE.
Specifications
The Hunter T1 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine from Ford, on which Prodrive has worked its magic. As a result, it produces:
- 600 horsepower
- 700 Newton-meters of torque
Designed by British designer Ian Callum, the Hunter T1 has the following dimensions:
- Length: 4,600mm
- Width: 2,300mm
- Height: 1,850mm
The Hunter T1 is based on Sebastian Loeb’s Bahrain Raid Xtreme competition car. Avid Dakar fans will remember how much of a star of the show that motorsport monster was at the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia.
Market Introduction
The Prodrive Hunter T1 made its debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix this year - the race that was the curtain raiser for the 2022 Formula 1 season. Since then, the clever boffins at Prodrive’s base in the UK have been working on the first development versions.
Why the UAE?
The UAE has been identified as a key market by Prodrive due to:
- The presence of luxury car collectors
- The combination of classic desert terrain and world-class road systems
This unique environment is something the Hunter T1 craves for.
Prodrive states that the Hunter will be shipped to buyers in due course, after which they can drive the all-terrain hypercar and confirm the specifications for their car. Customers who want to drive the Hunter T1 before it's shipped to the region can visit Prodrive’s HQ in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
Exploring the Desert
“The UAE has vast expanses of breathtaking desert terrain still to be explored, beyond the reach of asphalt roads,” said Prodrive chairman, David Richards. “The Hunter opens up these regions with performance and capability way beyond that offered previously by any all-terrain vehicle.”
“At the same time, it has all the comforts of a luxury road car, making it a pleasure to drive on the UAE’s superb network of roads and highways, and to be shown off in a modern city environment,” he concluded.
