When searching for a spacious and well-equipped sedan, buyers often find themselves overwhelmed by numerous options. My friend Jimmy Sadri and I got the keys to both the Toyota Avalon and Chevrolet Impala. It's time to see which car comes out on top!

Style

The Chevrolet Impala boasts an attractive design, with headlights reminiscent of the Camaro that give it a more aggressive appearance. It’s a beautiful car with a well-proportioned size. We can't overlook the stunning 20-inch wheels that enhance its visual appeal. The car's lines assert its sporty character.

On the other hand, the Toyota Avalon isn't unattractive, but it doesn't match the same level of beauty. It still resembles the Camry and lacks distinctive features. Some touches, like the LED headlights and a more appealing rear, improve its look, but that's about it.

Performance

The Chevrolet Impala is equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine generating 305 horsepower and 356 Nm of torque. The Impala is known for its smooth driving experience, with the engine barely reaching 2,000 RPM. However, its large wheels can reduce ride smoothness, giving it a sportier feel rather than a luxurious one. Fuel consumption ranges from 10 to 12 liters per 100 km, which is decent for a car of its size.

In contrast, the Toyota Avalon has a smaller 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 273 horsepower and 346 Nm of torque. Despite having 30 horsepower less than the Impala, it feels quicker, offering an enjoyable driving experience with its selectable modes: ECO, Normal, and Sport.

Interior

At first glance, the Chevrolet Impala appears luxurious. The seats are plush, and our model featured beautiful brown and black leather. However, the climate and radio controls seem to be from the 1990s.

Upon entering the Toyota Avalon, you immediately sense its luxury. Our model came with a combination of brown, beige, and black leather, with wood accents adding a touch of elegance. The interior design, along with its overall feel, makes you feel as if you're in a Lexus.

Features

The Chevrolet Impala comes equipped with numerous features such as a panoramic glass roof, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring, which are absent in the Toyota Avalon. On the downside, the "Bose" sound system was underwhelming.

Compared to the Toyota Avalon, the Impala feels more feature-rich. The Avalon seems to lack innovative features, offering little beyond a touchscreen for the radio and climate control.

Pricing

You can get the top model of the Chevrolet Impala with all its features for 129,000 AED. However, the Toyota Avalon demands a higher price, with its best model priced at 154,000 AED.

Both the Chevrolet Impala and Toyota Avalon target buyers looking for a luxury sedan at a reasonable price. In terms of value, the Impala offers more technology, sleek design, and an acceptable driving experience. Meanwhile, the Avalon provides a sense of luxury with its interior design and smooth driving.
