VW ID.BUZZ: The New Face of Sustainable Mobility

Introduction to the VW ID.BUZZ

The VW Bus is probably the most likeable vehicle ever - appealing to children, adults, and of course, the hippies! After quite an illustrious history, the VW microbus has made a comeback in EV form, and it’s looking good.

Sustainability and Design

Volkswagen claims this is the “new face of sustainable mobility”. Why? Because this is a zero-emissions bus that also features vegan leather.

Platform and Performance

The ID.BUZZ is built on the MEB platform, which also supports the Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4, the Audi Q4 e-tron, and Skoda’s Enyaq. Thanks to this architecture, the Buzz’s battery pack is located at the back, helping it achieve a turning circle of just over 11 metres.

Interior Features

The interior of the ID.BUZZ is very roomy, although it currently only offers five seats. However, Volkswagen is developing six and seven-seat versions, with the latter featuring a 2-3-2 seat arrangement. Additionally, the ID.BUZZ includes:

• 10-inch digital instrument cluster
• Digital display on the centre console

Both displays resemble “free-floating tablets.”

Future Developments

Many new versions of the ID.BUZZ are expected to arrive between now and 2030. The Buzz will also incorporate tech features such as:

• Car-to-X communication
• Ability to download data from the VW cloud, aiding in road detection and traffic navigation
• Self-parking system for easier maneuverability in tight spaces

Performance Specifications

The electric motor in the ID.BUZZ produces 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque. While we know it will offer impressive power and torque, many are curious about its range, which VW has yet to disclose.
