2018 Audi SQ5 Review - The Perfect Sports Utility Vehicle
Tags:
Introduction
The SUV segment is currently one of the best-selling categories in the market, prompting automakers to pay significant attention to it. At Audi, there are four different SUV models to choose from. The 2018 Audi SQ5 truly embodies the essence of a Sport Utility Vehicle. Let’s take a closer look at the 2018 Audi SQ5.
Exterior Design
The Audi SQ5 is one of the most attractive mid-size SUVs on the market. Its sporty presence is highlighted by:
- A larger front grille adorned with a generous amount of chrome, featuring the SQ5 logo.
- 20-inch alloy wheels with red brake calipers.
- Bold sporty lines that distinguish it from other vehicles in its class.
The vehicle offers a luggage capacity of 550 liters, which can be expanded to 1550 liters by folding the rear seats. Additionally, you can lower the car's height at the push of a button for easier loading of heavy items.
I have two observations regarding the rear design of the car:
- The exhaust outlets are fake and covered with plastic pieces, while the real exhaust is located underneath.
- The rear lights open with the trunk lid, which gives the car an odd appearance when opened.
Interior Design
Inside, we find:
- A flat-bottom sports steering wheel.
- Leather seats adorned with Audi's signature stitching and embroidery.
- Carbon fiber accents that enhance the sporty character.
- A full panoramic sunroof and a virtual cockpit instead of a traditional instrument panel.
The SQ5 version comes equipped with an entertainment system featuring Audi's MMI, along with a large touchpad to control vehicle settings and entertainment.
Driving Experience
The 2018 Audi SQ5 benefits from an air suspension system that automatically adjusts when changing driving modes, providing:
- A comfortable and quiet ride in Comfort mode.
- A more responsive and precise drive in Dynamic mode.
- The ability to manually adjust the vehicle's height in off-road mode.
The 3-liter, 6-cylinder turbocharged engine produces 354 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The tiptronic 8-speed transmission offers a smooth and comfortable driving experience, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds.
Conclusion
In conclusion, if you're in search of a family-friendly SUV that also caters to sporty driving enthusiasts, the Audi SQ5 is a highly suitable choice. With a starting price of AED 249,000, the version we tested reaches AED 269,000.
