2018 Ford Expedition: Specifications and New Design Features
Weight Reduction and Improved Design
The 2018 Ford Expedition showcases an increase in size and interior space. However, Ford has managed to reduce the vehicle's weight by using aluminum instead of reinforced steel. This innovative approach has resulted in a weight reduction of 136 kg compared to the previous model, while also enhancing the vehicle's aesthetic appeal.
Exterior Design
The changes in the overall appearance of the vehicle are evident, featuring a sleek design with front elements reminiscent of the company’s F-150 pickup. Additionally, some characteristics from the Explorer have been incorporated, including a higher side profile aligned with the vehicle's windows, which reduces window size and adds to the overall smoothness of the design.
Engine and Transmission
The 2018 Ford Expedition will be equipped with a 3.6-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost engine with 6 cylinders, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain is expected to generate up to 375 horsepower and a torque of 637 Nm. The engine also features a stop-start technology that enhances fuel efficiency.
Availability
The vehicle will be available in both four-wheel and two-wheel drive configurations, with sales of the 2018 Ford Expedition expected to commence in the third quarter of this year.
