Dubai Police Confiscates 580 Driving Licenses for Excessive Black Points

Dubai Police reported that 580 drivers had their licenses confiscated in the last year due to accumulating 24 or more black points. To alleviate the burden on drivers, Dubai Police launched an installment plan for traffic fines.

Demographics of Affected Drivers

According to Col Saif Al Mazrouei, director of the General Department of Traffic, the breakdown of the 580 drivers is as follows:

• 244 Emiratis
• 159 Pakistanis
• 124 Indians
• 245 from other nationalities

Consequences of Accumulating Black Points

The driving licenses are confiscated based on the number of black points accumulated:

1. First Offense: License confiscated for 3 months after reaching 24 black points.
2. Second Offense: License confiscated for 6 months.
3. Third Offense: License confiscated for 1 year, with reinstatement conditional upon passing a traffic safety course.
