Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, director of the Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy, stated that the Ministry's initiative includes:
- Establishing new standards for cruise control systems.
- Conducting visits to car manufacturing plants.
- Launching educational campaigns for drivers.
- Implementing additional safety measures.
Recall Statistics
Al Nuaimi highlighted that the Ministry of Economy has ordered 176 recalls in the past 18 months, with approximately 80% of these recalls involving necessary car repairs.
Future Actions
Additionally, the Ministry plans to visit leading car factories to remain informed about the latest advancements in cruise control systems and to determine what safety features should become the new standard for this essential device.
