Dubai. Drivers Khalid Al Azhari and Clemens Schmid from Al Nabooda Racing are set to compete in the Dubai race this weekend, both hoping to achieve consecutive victories on the Dubai Autodrome circuit. The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge series is the highlight of the events hosted at the track during its annual festival.
Al Nabooda Team Standings
The Dubai-based team currently leads the overall standings in the GT3 Cup series after four rounds out of a total of twelve. Team members Al Azhari and Schmid are looking to extend their lead over their closest competitors, the Saudi Falcons team.
Driver Statements
Khalid Al Azhari
Khalid Al Azhari expressed his excitement for the upcoming rounds of the series in Dubai, stating: "This is the home circuit for the team, and we are sure to receive a lot of support. We look forward to giving our best in these two rounds."
Al Azhari, one of the most successful drivers at the Dubai Autodrome since 2004, added: "If we can replicate our performance from the first two rounds in Bahrain, where we topped the team standings in both races, it will undoubtedly boost our position and strengthen our hopes for the title."
He continued: "Achieving this goal is our aim this season, and while I compete with Schmid for the drivers' title, our primary focus remains on advancing the team and winning it for Dubai for the first time."
Clemens Schmid
Schmid, who made his debut and achieved his first victories at the Dubai circuit last year, stated: "We are driving to win, and our goal again this week is for both of us to be on the podium. This brings us closer to the title."
Overall Team Standings
Members of Al Nabooda Racing are keen to put pressure on championship leader Abdulaziz Al Faisal, who secured two consecutive victories at Yas Marina Circuit last weekend and aims for his third title in the series.
Porsche GT3 Cup Series
In its fourth year, and having established itself as the premier racing series in the Middle East, the Porsche GT3 Cup Series has attracted 15 drivers for the upcoming race, which is part of the Dubai Autodrome's motorsport festival.
The series has taken center stage during the festival's events on Thursday and Friday, emphasizing its growing popularity and its position as one of the best racing circuits in the region.
Technical Director's Comment
In this regard, Vijay Rao, the technical director of Al Nabooda Racing, commented: "The level of driving skills in the championship has risen significantly, and the competition has become fiercer, resulting in real battles on the track and strong competition for advancement."
He added: "This is the best racing series, which is why we are participating with two cars this season to aim for the team title. We truly hope to secure the title for Dubai this year."
