Announcing the Beyond100 Strategy
Bentley Motors has today accelerated its progressive strategy, Beyond100, which is hailed as the most ambitious plan in the automotive sector. A key component of this initiative is the Five-in-Five plan, committing Bentley to launch a new electric model every year starting in 2025. This initiative aims to redefine Bentley's capabilities as a manufacturer setting the standards in the sustainable luxury mobility sector.
Sustainable Investment
Earlier today, Bentley also revealed a sustainable investment of £2.5 billion to realize this strategy, confirming that from 2025, the first electric vehicle from Bentley will be designed, developed, and produced in Crewe, England. This announcement marks a significant boost for the team in Crewe, the region, and, of course, the UK as a sustainable base for high-value industry.
This investment will also enable a fundamental re-invention of the manufacturing infrastructure in Crewe, helping to ensure Bentley's future in Crewe for the next generation of products and colleagues alike. Crewe will become the Dream Factory – a digital, flexible, high-value manufacturing facility with zero environmental impact.
Bentley Model Range
In terms of its model range, the luxury brand is currently leading the way in the premium hybrid vehicle segment and will further enhance its position with the launch of the Flying Spur PHEV in 2022, alongside five additional variants, which will complement the existing Bentayga PHEV to meet the diverse needs of Bentley's distinguished clientele with refined tastes. It is expected that more than 20 percent of this year's sales from Bentley will be hybrid vehicles.
Statements from the CEO
Commenting on this development, Adrian Hallmark, CEO of Bentley Motors, stated, "Accelerating our Beyond100 strategy and ensuring the production of BEVs in Crewe, alongside a £2.5 billion investment, represent key milestones in Bentley's 102-year history. This is a ray of hope for the Bentley family, our suppliers, and partners, as well as for the automotive sector and the British industry as a whole."
He added, "This recent announcement regarding Bentley's Beyond100 plan underscores the commencement of a transformative phase in the company's long and impressive history. The world is witnessing significant changes, and we must play our part in achieving neutrality regarding our environmental impact. This means realizing our goal of becoming a fully carbon-neutral company by 2030 and reaffirming our role as leaders in the sustainable luxury mobility sector."
