Driving the All-New 2016 Toyota Fortuner in the UAE

Al-Futtaim Motors, the exclusive distributor of Toyota vehicles in the UAE, recently launched the all-new 2016 Fortuner for a select group of media representatives. (You can read the news here). The event was filled with delicious appetizers, VIP guests, and journalists from across the UAE. However, the surprise of the day was the heavy rain that swept across the entire region. Most of us thought the event would be canceled, but that was not the case. Instead, they took us to the desert to test the new Fortuner under these conditions, proving its worth as a top choice for off-road driving enthusiasts, second only to the Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol. Driving Experience
Initially, the weather was so rainy that reaching the cars was quite challenging. With some mud and water up to our knees, I finally made it to the vehicle. All of us were thrilled to experience it in these desert conditions, but we were cautioned against reckless driving, and a professional instructor was assigned to each driver. Despite our urges to push the limits, we followed their advice, as it was the safest approach given the weather.
Driving Challenges
After deflating the tires, we began tackling the sand dunes. A special course had been set up for us. We drove in a line, ascending and descending the dunes. Some of the dunes were quite challenging, and we had to slide sideways to avoid tipping the vehicle. However, the Fortuner proved to be remarkably stable, impressing us with its power and suspension throughout the course. Unfortunately, they had arranged a dinner for us in the desert, but most of us did not attend due to the severe weather. As a result, we all hurried back to the hotel.
