Honda Civic Type R: The Fastest Front-Wheel Drive Car

Introduction
It's back! Honda revealed the new Civic Type R at the recent Geneva Motor Show. It is touted as the fastest front-wheel drive car at the famous Nurburgring circuit, as stated by the Honda President & CEO Takanabu Ito himself.
Engine Specifications
The engine is rumored to be a 2.0 liter turbocharged instead of a naturally aspirated VTEC, primarily due to competitors achieving higher horsepower and lower emissions. This was a significant factor in the delay, prompting Honda to return to the drawing board. While specifications of the engine have not yet been confirmed, the 2.0 L turbocharged engine is expected to produce:
- Power: Approximately 276 bhp
- Torque: 400 Nm
- 0-100 km/h Acceleration: Around 6 seconds
Design Features
Honda describes the Civic Type R as a “race car for the road,” and this theme is evident in its striking design. Key design elements include:
- Large rear wing
- Vent behind the rear wheel
- Dynamic wheel-arch with quad exhausts
- Full-width diffuser
Release Information
This new car by Honda is set to be released next year with a price tag of roughly $50,000. Meanwhile, you can preview the car being put to its limits at Nurburgring below:
