Ford has announced a substantial investment of $3.7 billion in the United States aimed at producing electric vehicles (EVs) and internal combustion engine cars at its plants in Michigan, Ohio, and Missouri.
Allocation of Funds
Out of the total investment of $3.7 billion:
- $2.3 billion will be allocated specifically for EV production.
- Ford aims to reach a target of $50 billion invested in EVs by 2026.
- The company will receive $150 million in incentives from Michigan and $200 million from Ohio.
Job Creation
This investment is set to generate 6,200 hourly jobs and convert 3,000 temporary workers into full-time positions, providing them with healthcare benefits and higher pay.
Plant Investments
The funding will be distributed across several key plants:
- The Ohio assembly plant will receive $1.5 billion to initiate production of a new electric commercial vehicle by mid-decade.
- A $95 million investment will be made in the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri to enhance the production of the Transit commercial van and the electric E-Transit.
