The Journey of the Jaguar F-Type and Its Electric Future

Jaguar F-Type

50 years ago, the final Jaguar E-Type, hailed as the greatest Jaguar ever, rolled off the production line. Fast forward to 2024, the last F-Type has left Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich factory. The specifications of the final F-Type mirror its spiritual predecessor - finished in Giola Green with a tan leather interior and black roof.

The Journey of the F-Type

The F-Type has had an impressive journey since its debut in 2013. Inspired by the C-X16 concept, the F-Type aimed to follow in the footsteps of the iconic Jaguar E-Type. Initially launched as a convertible, the F-Type later became available as a coupe.

The current model, introduced in 2019, features a facelift designed to attract a younger audience with its modern aesthetics. The F-Type was offered with two engine options:

  • A 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 300 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.
  • A 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine available in two variants:
    • One with 450 horsepower and 572 Nm of torque.
    • Another with 575 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.

The final F-Type is a 5.0-litre V8 Convertible. Jaguar has sold 87,731 units of the F-Type, surpassing the E-Type by 15,000 units.

Preservation of a Classic

This unique F-Type will be entrusted to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT) located in Gaydon, UK. It will join the final models of the XE, XF, and XF Sportbrake that are also housed there.

An Electric Future Awaits

Currently, Jaguar is an SUV-only brand with the E-Pace, I-Pace, and F-Pace on sale. As one era ends, another begins. Jaguar is transitioning to a fully electric car company and is preparing a GT car for 2025 built on the new JEA platform. The firm anticipates a range of 430 miles and a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing around 570 horsepower.

Jaguar F-Type Coupe

“The singular vision of Jaguar’s founder, Sir William Lyons, was to always be future-facing, relevant, and original. This has been the foundation of Jaguar through almost a century of evolving contemporary British luxury. Today, as we celebrate F-Type and our 75-year history of innovative Jaguar sports cars, we are also looking forward to the beginning of a new era. We will reimagine and elevate the Jaguar brand that will be focused on growing client intimacy and engagement, underpinned by our purpose to inspire like no other,” said Rawdon Glover, Managing Director, Jaguar.
