Jebel Jais, a popular mountain destination in the United Arab Emirates, is renowned for its stunning views and has recently become a hotspot for thrill-seeking drivers who race along the winding road to the summit. As a favorite among locals, residents, and tourists alike, Jebel Jais has prompted the Ras Al Khaimah Police to install numerous new speed cameras along the scenic route to ensure everyone’s safety.
Driver Safety
The Ras Al Khaimah Police have stated that there will be zero tolerance for reckless driving, especially after the installation of radars on several roads in the emirate, including those leading to Jebel Jais, which have a speed limit of 120 km/h. Standing at an elevation of 1,934 meters above sea level, Jebel Jais recently earned the Guinness World Record for the longest winding two-lane road in the world, and it is also set to feature a new, exciting camp site.
Police Statements
Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Hamidi, the Director General of Central Operations at the Ras Al Khaimah Police, stated: "The Jebel Jais road is often frequented by families on weekends and public holidays as a suitable area for outings. Drivers must exercise caution while driving and adhere to traffic laws for their safety and that of others."
