Khalid Al Qubaisi: Lessons Learned from the Dunlop 24 Hours Race to Enhance Winning Chances

Emphasizing the Importance of Past Experiences
Abu Dhabi, UAE, January 9, 2013: UAE driver Khalid Al Qubaisi asserted that the lessons learned by the Abu Dhabi Racing team, the "Black Falcons," especially from last year's Dunlop 24 Hours race in Dubai, can significantly influence the team's efforts to defend their title and aim for a consecutive victory this weekend.
Preparing for the Race
In a statement before starting his daily training in preparation for the car racing marathon, set to take place on the Dubai Autodrome track this Friday afternoon, Al Qubaisi said:
"Despite our victory last year, we weren't at our best. We could have performed better and avoided some mistakes if we had implemented a better strategy."
Learning from Mistakes
He added:
"The entire team benefited and learned from those experiences, and we will undoubtedly try to avoid them and strive to deliver a better performance this time. We need to develop our skills if we want to maintain the title; it won't be easy, but I am confident in our ability to achieve it."
Al Qubaisi's Strategy for Participation
In his quest to enhance his chances of winning, Al Qubaisi, the first Emirati driver to secure a clear victory at the Dunlop 24 Hours in Dubai, will participate with two Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 cars from the team.
Both cars prominently display the logo of Abu Dhabi Racing – an organization recently established to bolster the Emirati presence in global motorsport and support Emirati participation in various international events. Al Qubaisi believes that the Dunlop 24 Hours race in Dubai is a crucial platform to achieve these goals.
The Importance of Winning the 24-Hour Race
He stated:
"Winning the title in our second participation in the 24 Hours race is a significant achievement, and I consider myself lucky to have the chance to replicate this success. One of our primary goals at Abu Dhabi Racing is to provide opportunities for Emirati drivers to compete in top-tier motorsport events. We strive to attract young drivers and provide them with opportunities, and I look forward to overseeing the development of our local talents in the coming years."
The Team Lineup and Collaboration
In the first car for Abu Dhabi Racing's "Black Falcons," Al Qubaisi will be joined by:
- Shawn Edwards
- Joren Bleekemolen
- Bernhard Schneider (German racing champion)
Meanwhile, in the second car, Al Qubaisi will team up with:
- Adriën Simonsen
- Steve Jans
- Sergiy Avanasev
- Simon Nap
Risk Analysis and Preparations
Al Qubaisi, fully aware of the impending risks, remarked:
"Anything can happen in a 24-hour race, and 90% of success relies on proper preparation, including team members, a competitive car, and a solid strategy."
He continued:
"Once these elements are secured, success will depend on your luck in avoiding mistakes. Our car may not be the fastest, but it's a fantastic blend of speed, stability, and endurance. We know that the BMW will be a strong competitor. The Ferrari is also fast, but in our opinion, it is less durable than the German cars."
Conclusion
He concluded:
"We have worked hard to develop the car, established a strategic plan, and we are ready. It will be a tough race, but we have the experience needed to defend our title."
