Lexus LX570 Review: Luxury and Performance

The Lexus LX570 has been a staple in the luxury SUV market, appealing to those seeking a vehicle like the Land Cruiser but with more opulence. Since its launch in 2008, this marks its third update, and it is arguably the most significant one yet. Let’s dive into the details.

Key Specifications:

  • Engine: 5.7L V8
  • Transmission: 8-speed automatic
  • Power: 362 horsepower
  • Top Speed: 220 km/h
  • Price: AED 450,000

Exterior Design:

Lexus has smartly updated the exterior, making only subtle changes that may go unnoticed by the average car enthusiast. Some of the updates include redesigned front and rear lights, new bumpers, and alloy wheels. The SUV looks more aggressive than ever and commands respect on the road. Overall, the LX570 is starting to resemble other Lexus models more closely.

Interior and Safety Features:

The interior has also seen updates. The dashboard is entirely new, featuring a 12.3" screen that is controlled via a joystick, although it could be more responsive. While it is an improvement over the previous setup, I still prefer a rotary dial or a traditional touchscreen. Additionally, the cabin is adorned with leather throughout, a wood and leather steering wheel, numerous buttons beside the gear shift, climate control, a heads-up display, a cooler compartment, and a 19-speaker sound system. Regarding safety features, you will find a 360-degree camera, sensors, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring among others. Overall, this vehicle is packed with technology, ensuring you won’t feel lacking in any area.

Driving Experience:

Lexus has not updated the 5.7L V8 engine. It still produces only 360 horsepower, which was disappointing to me. While the 8-speed transmission is smooth, I expected more performance for the price of the vehicle. The steering felt quite stiff to me, making turns cumbersome. When cornering, it feels as though you're driving an American truck. The suspension is decent, but overall, I wish Lexus had focused on upgrading the driving experience rather than just the aesthetics.

Conclusion:

The LX570 is now competing with the Range Rover in terms of price, but it certainly does not deliver the same level of quality.
