Lexus LM Minivan: First Teaser Images and Details
Introduction
Premium Japanese automaker Lexus has released teaser images of its first-ever minivan prior to its unveiling at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show. While the images are dark and don’t reveal much more than the chrome window line, the silhouette of a minivan is clearly visible.
Trademarks and Naming
Sources claim that Lexus recently filed trademarks for the ‘LM’ name and the ‘LM 300h’ moniker, indicating that a hybrid version is certainly in the works. The ‘LM’ nameplate fits well with the rest of the brand’s luxury lineup, including:
Design and Features
As some may have guessed, the Lexus LM appears to be based on the Toyota Alphard, featuring an identical profile, sliding doors, and long rear windows. The front fascia adheres to the brand’s design language and resembles the practical RX crossover, equipped with a slightly revised grille and a new set of headlights.
Performance Specifications
If the LM is to receive the same powerplant found in the Alphard, it could be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 296 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission will be responsible for delivering the power to the wheels. The big question remains: will Lexus introduce this all-new model to the Middle East region?
Conclusion
What do you think? Could Lexus’ new minivan become a success story for the region? Time will tell…
