Maserati Alfieri Concept: A Glimpse into the Future of Sports Cars
Introduction
Maserati only has one 2-door model to show for its creating capability of sports cars, and that doesn’t sit well with the Italian marquee. This is about to change with the introduction of its new concept at the Geneva Motor Show called Alfieri.
About the Alfieri Concept
First of all, it is a concept car, so it is not going into production any time soon. However, what it does show is what Maserati holds in the future, and by the looks of it, it’s promising. The Alfieri is shorter than the GranTurismo and packs the same 4.7-liter V8 engine producing 460 bhp, mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox.
Design Inspiration
The gorgeous design of the Alfieri was inspired by the 1954 Maserati A6 GCS-53, featuring LED lamps covered in a liquid-metal paint job. This design was done under the supervision of Lorenzo Ramaciotti, the chief designer for Pininfarina/Fiat Group, who is also responsible for designing the Quattroporte. Got to hand it to you, Mr. Ramaciotti; you have good taste.
