The six finalists were selected by the jury among 1,726 entries submitted by creators in 57 countries. The finalists are as follows:

  1. Wondaleaf from Malaysia, with the Hammock Wheelchair, combines a wheelchair, forklift, and hammock, reducing manual lifting of patients by caregivers.
  2. Charlotte Böning & Mary Lempres (Dual USA - Germany and Dual USA - Norway) created Chitpfam, a biodegradable packaging solution derived from mealworm exoskeletons that have digested polystyrene foam waste.
  3. The Nigerian team Dunamis presented the Ina Vibe, a sustainable cooking, charging, and lighting product that has a groundbreaking impact.
  4. Sound Eclipse by Kristil & Shamina (Russia) is a device that reduces external noise when placed near an open window.
  5. Kou Mikuni from Japan developed Tacomotive, a tangible driving simulator for children with visual and aural challenges.
  6. Poh Yun Ru from Singapore created Rewind, a platform leveraging multi-sensory stimulation to prompt meaningful recollection for seniors with dementia.

All six finalists will have the opportunity to work with industry leaders and develop prototypes of their groundbreaking ideas with a budget of 3,000,000 yen (approximately USD 25,000).

Lexus Design Award 2022 judge Anupama Kundoo stated, "I was impressed by the creators' sensitivity to real-life issues faced by individuals with disabilities and the challenges facing society, such as sustainable coexistence with nature. The mentoring process will optimize the impact of the finalists' designs. I greatly enjoyed working with such a diverse jury and finding so much alignment. Where there were different perspectives, those too were complementary and aligned in their core values."
