Mohammed Ben Sulayem Advocates for Palestine's Membership in the International Motorcycling Federation

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, December 10, 2012: Mohammed Ben Sulayem has received numerous messages of gratitude and appreciation for his significant role in urging members of the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) to vote for Palestine’s membership in the federation.
Acceptance of the Palestinian Motorcycling and Automobile Federation
The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) made a historic decision to accept the application for membership from the Palestinian Motorcycling and Automobile Federation during the General Assembly meeting in Monte Carlo last weekend.
Due to the absence of the Palestinian representative at the meeting, the vote on membership might have been postponed until the next meeting, a year later, without the strong advocacy from Ben Sulayem, who is the President of the Emirates Motorsports Club and the official representative of the UAE in the FIM.
Thank You Message from the President of the Palestinian Motorcycling and Automobile Federation
In recognition of this commendable effort, Khaled Qaddoura, President of the Palestinian Motorcycling and Automobile Federation, sent a message of thanks and appreciation to Dr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, describing his actions as a "wonderful step and a commendable stance in support of the Palestinian motorcycling federation."
History of Mohammed Ben Sulayem's Support for Palestine
Qaddoura emphasized that this stance is not surprising coming from Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who had previously supported the acceptance of the Palestinian Motorcycling and Automobile Federation into the International Automobile Federation (FIA) five years ago.
He stated: "He stood on our behalf, took it upon himself to represent the Palestinian Federation before the members, and opposed the decision to delay the vote on our membership. We are very grateful to him for his courageous and brotherly stances, and I thank him on behalf of all federation members for his continuous and invaluable efforts to support Palestinian presence in international forums and his significant role in developing motorsport in the region."
New Achievements of the Palestinian Motorcycling and Automobile Federation
With this acceptance, the Palestinian Motorcycling and Automobile Federation became the 108th member of the International Motorcycling Federation. Established in 2005, the club oversees various motorsport events and can now expand its activities to include motorcycle racing.
Statements from Mohammed Ben Sulayem
In this context, Mohammed Ben Sulayem stated: "The Palestinian Motorcycling and Automobile Federation is relatively new, yet it is doing a fantastic job in creating opportunities for motorsport under extremely challenging circumstances."
He continued: "It needs the support of the International Motorcycling Federation and its counterparts in the Middle East and across the globe. Given the recent events in Palestine, postponing the vote on Palestinian membership due to the absence of any federation officials at the General Assembly meeting is neither fair nor justified."
Plans of the Emirates Motorsports Club
The Emirates Motorsports Club plans to invite motorcycle riders from Palestine to compete in motorsport events in the UAE, including Motocross competitions and the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, the second round of the World Championship for long-distance desert racing for cars and motorcycles, taking place from April 5-11.
