Residents of Abu Shagara Raise Concerns Over Illegal Car Brokers

Car Brokers in Abu Shagara

Concerns from Residents

Residents of Abu Shagara are expressing their frustration regarding the presence of illegal car brokers hired by nearby used car showrooms. These brokers are reportedly annoying residents and persistently trying to persuade them to purchase cars. Living among these brokers has become a significant issue, with many describing it as a menace.

Police Action Against Illegal Activities

Col Jihad bin Sahoh, the Director of the Search and Investigation department at the Sharjah Police, stated that they are actively continuing their inspection campaign targeting illegal activities.

Recent Arrests

According to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), police have arrested 775 illegal brokers between November and the end of December. These arrests were made as they were found engaging in activities such as illegal brokering.

Municipality Measures

In an effort to combat illegal brokering activities, the Sharjah Municipality has issued identity cards to the owners and staff of used car showrooms. These employees are required to wear the identity cards when interacting with customers or municipality officers.

Future Plans for the Used Car Market

Despite these measures, there are currently no plans to relocate the Abu Shagara used car market to the Al Roq’ah Al Hamra area.
