Transforming Road Networks for a Growing Dubai

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving infrastructure in residential areas, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated the development of 16.5 km of internal roads in Al Awir 1. This project aligns with Dubai’s vision of fostering urban expansion while ensuring seamless connectivity and enhanced accessibility for residents.

Key Enhancements and Benefits

1. Improved Accessibility

The project introduces a new entrance from Emirates Road, complemented by roundabouts and intersections designed to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion.

2. Increased Road Capacity

A dedicated additional lane on Emirates Road, extending from Al Awir 1 to Sharjah, will boost road capacity by 16%, ensuring smoother commutes for thousands of motorists.

3. Residential Infrastructure Enhancements

RTA’s initiative includes the construction of 5 km of internal roads within the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment residential project, further linking it to Emirates Road through a 7.5 km dual-lane connection.

Expanding Road Networks Beyond Al Awir 1

RTA is also enhancing road infrastructure across multiple residential areas, including Al Warqa, Nadd Hessa, Wadi Al Safa 3, and Al Barsha South.

Al Warqa

A new direct entrance and exit from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, along with upgraded intersections, will streamline traffic and cut travel time by 80%.

Nadd Hessa

New dual-lane access points will serve up to 6,000 vehicles per hour, significantly reducing congestion and improving connectivity with Dubai Silicon Oasis.

Wadi Al Safa 3

A 4 km direct entrance from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will improve accessibility and reduce travel distances by 10 km.

Al Barsha South

Recent road enhancements have expanded road capacity from 6,000 to 9,000 vehicles per hour, improving traffic flow and reducing wait times at key intersections.
