Sheikh Khalifa Interchange: A Landmark Infrastructure Project in the Northern Emirates
To enhance infrastructure in the Northern Emirates, the Sheikh Khalifa Interchange was among the first projects to be planned and implemented.
Work to upgrade the road network began in March 2011. By February of this year, construction was completed at a cost of approximately AED 300 million.
According to Dr. Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works, this interchange was part of a regional development plan valued at nearly AED 16 billion, announced by President Sheikh Khalifa.
The original bridge was demolished and rebuilt, transforming it into the largest intersection of its kind in the emirate. The new interchange connects Ajman with the rest of the Emirates through a network of modern roads.
When it opened this year, officials named the project after the President. The public welcomed the new interchange for its significant contribution to smoother traffic flow in the area.
