2014 Ford Fusion and Ford Ranger Review

The new 2014 Ford Fusion is now available in the UAE. We had the opportunity to drive both the 2014 Ford Fusion and 2014 Ford Ranger during a brief half-day event at Dubai Autodrome. Additionally, we conducted comparative testing with Toyota models by driving both the Fusion and the current generation Camry on track.
2014 Ford Fusion

The 2014 Ford Fusion introduces a range of new driver technologies, including:
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Blindspot Warnings
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Forward Collision Alert
- Gradual Steering Corrections (Pull Drift Compensation)
- Active Parking Assist
Notably, it is the only car in its segment to offer inflatable rear seatbelts, enhancing safety for families. On the track, we noted significant differences in steering feedback and stability between the Fusion and the Camry. The current generation Camry is long overdue for an update, giving the new Fusion an edge with its modern technologies.
It would have been interesting to compare the new Fusion with the Mazda 6, which also boasts adaptive cruise control and other advanced features. The Mazda 6 was the winner of our comparative test last year.
One of the standout features of the Fusion is its cabin quietness. The Fusion is significantly quieter than the Camry, measured at:
- Camry: 78-80 dB
- Fusion: 68-70 dB
2014 Ford Ranger

The 2014 Ford Ranger is an off-road capable compact pickup that comes with impressive specifications:
- Towing Capability: Up to 3,350 kg
- Ground Clearance: Up to 237 mm
- Wading Depth: Up to 800 mm during rainfall
During our wadi drives, the Ranger showcased superior driver assist features and enhanced interior comforts compared to the Toyota Hilux models we tested. Navigating a 45-degree hill descent was notably easier with the Ford Ranger. Furthermore, it is now a safer model, equipped with:
- Dynamic Stability Control
- 6 Airbags
