New Regulations from the Ministry of Interior

The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has announced a stricter enforcement policy for motorists who fail to give way to emergency vehicles such as ambulances, police cars, and official parade vehicles in the UAE. Offending drivers will now face a fine of AED 3,000, along with six traffic points and a vehicle impoundment for 30 days.

Implementation Date

These regulations are set to be implemented from 1st July 2019 onward. This initiative aims to enhance road and traffic safety, significantly reducing the number of fatalities resulting from traffic accidents.

Monitoring and Enforcement

The MOI will conduct civil patrols to monitor violations against emergency vehicles and official vehicles. This will be facilitated through the use of smart systems, road-mounted cameras, and patrol vehicles.

Importance of Compliance

The MOI emphasizes that it is crucial for road users to pay attention to emergency sirens and to recognize the lights of emergency vehicles to ensure they give priority on the road.
