2013 Audi A8 L Review: Luxury and Performance
Introduction
Germany is renowned not just for its exquisite engineering but also for its remarkable automotive manufacturers. When thinking of luxury sedans, names like Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Audi A8 immediately come to mind.
My Experience with the 2013 Audi A8
I had marked down on my list that it was time to drive the iconic Audi A8 2013. We had previously tested its larger sibling, the A8 W12, in June, and now we were excited to try out the 4.0 TFSI V8, which arrived in the UAE in late 2012.
After signing a few papers, we headed to the lot where I finally laid eyes on the stunning A8 Quattro. I noticed that our beautiful car featured impressive 21-inch wheels and was painted in a color Audi calls "Classic Red."
Interior Quality
Opening the car door feels like stepping into first-class seating on an airplane. Here are some highlights:
- Extremely comfortable leather seats.
- A multitude of buttons for controlling various technologies.
- Beautiful beige wood accents.
Clearly, Audi has paid great attention to detail in the A8 L.
Interior Technology
When Audi launched the new Multimedia Interface (MMI), they included a small touchscreen that allows the driver to input destinations directly into the navigation system.
Interior Space
Sitting in the back, you can enjoy comfortable seats that can be folded, heated, and cooled. Backseat passengers are also treated to 10.2” screens, allowing them to watch TV or play DVDs.
Performance
Acceleration
The twin-turbo 4.0-liter engine produces 420 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.
Conclusion
As the weekend came to an end and I had to return the car to Audi, I found myself enamored with its sleek exterior, stunning interior, enjoyable driving experience, and the respect it commanded from others. However, one thing seemed to be missing: the A8 L lacked a sense of innovation.
