Exterior Design
Positioned in the luxury car segment, the Citroen DS5 competes against major rivals such as the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Featuring 18-inch Adelaide alloy wheels with gray accents, the DS5 boasts sculpted lines that lend it a distinctive character.
A striking chrome detailing around the car's body and a honeycomb grille with large fog lights enhance its aesthetic. The dual-tone mirrors add a stylish touch to the overall design.
Interior Design
Staying true to the unconventional image of the brand, the 2016 Citroen DS5 features three sunroofs—two in the front and one in the center. High-quality glossy materials are used throughout the cabin, offering ample legroom for all passengers and a suitable ceiling height in the rear area.
Technology and Safety
The standard model comes equipped with several safety features, earning the Citroen DS5 a 5-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP). Notable safety systems include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). Additionally, the vehicle features automatic headlights, cornering lights, a head-up display, and an intelligent traction control system.
Infotainment System
The vehicle is equipped with an infotainment system featuring a straightforward radio interface, which can be controlled from the steering wheel. The sound quality is generally good, though it may become slightly distorted at high volumes.
Driving Experience
Powered by a developed engine in collaboration with BMW, the 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine generates 160 hp and 240 Nm of torque, managed by a 6-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel drive. With this setup, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.4 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 202 km/h.
The suspension system is designed to provide a sporty driving experience, giving the driver an exhilarating ride while maintaining good balance during turns.
Conclusion
Overall, the 2016 Citroen DS5 is impressive, but it needs to address several areas to compete effectively with its German rivals. Currently, its closest competitors may be the Japanese automotive manufacturers.
