Tesla Introduces Refreshed Model S and Model X with More Range

Tesla has quietly upgraded its flagship Model S and Model X for the 2025 model year. The changes add up to better range, improved comfort, and sharper features even as prices inch up by $4,500 to $5,000.
Longer Range and Smoother Ride
The Model S Long Range now offers up to 410 miles of EPA-rated range, making it Tesla’s longest-range production vehicle yet. That five-mile improvement doesn’t come from a bigger battery but from refinements to aerodynamics, new suspension tuning, and enhanced noise cancellation.
The Model X also sees range gains along with a modest cabin volume increase—about 2.5 cubic feet of extra space for passengers and gear.
Upgraded Comfort and Convenience
Both models have received improved suspension for a quieter, more refined ride . Inside, new ambient LED lighting animations greet drivers and passengers, matching features from the Model 3 and Y. Tesla has also added front bumper cameras to enhance Autopilot visibility and "Actually Smart Summon" functionality.
More Weight, Slightly Less Performance
In a curious trade-off, the Model S Plaid is now 26 lb heavier and electronically limited to 149 mph instead of the previous 200 mph top speed. The Model X Plaid adds 183 lb, though its top speed remains unchanged. Tesla also made the yoke steering wheel optional on Plaid trims, removing it from the base AWD models.
Pricing and What’s Next?
The Long Range Model S now starts at $84,990, with the Plaid at $99,990. The Model X Long Range starts at $89,990 and the Plaid at $104,990. All prices are from the USA, revised UAE pricing is yet to come.
Tesla continues to test prototypes equipped with Cybertruck-inspired features like front bumper cameras, ambient lighting, and potentially a 48-volt electrical system and steer-by-wire tech. However, these likely belong to a deeper refresh expected in late 2025.
