In celebration of the New Year, Abu Dhabi has announced an exciting relief for motorists. The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) confirmed that parking will be free, and road tolls will be waived across the emirate on January 1. This initiative aims to enhance convenience and spread festive cheer among residents and visitors.
Details of the Announcement
The announcement applies to all public parking spaces managed by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) and all toll gates within Abu Dhabi. Parking fees will be suspended for the entire day, starting from midnight on January 1 until 7:59 AM on January 2. Likewise, no charges will be applied at any of the toll gates during this period.
Motorists are reminded to adhere to parking regulations, such as avoiding reserved spaces for residents, emergency vehicles, and loading zones. Any violations will still incur penalties as per the standard rules.
Encouraging Responsible Celebration
The free parking and toll waiver is part of Abu Dhabi's ongoing efforts to support its residents and enhance quality of life. While enjoying the festivities, drivers are urged to prioritize road safety and avoid any reckless behavior behind the wheel. Ensuring a safe start to the year is a shared responsibility.
