Abu Dhabi to Install Air-Conditioned Bus Stops for Commuters

Abu Dhabi commuters are complaining about the non-air-conditioned bus stops around the city, especially during these hot summer days.

Department of Transport's Plans

The Department of Transport (DoT) is planning to install 360 air-conditioned bus stops around Abu Dhabi by 2014. The distribution of these stops is as follows:

1. 100 air-conditioned bus stops in Abu Dhabi
2. 120 air-conditioned bus stops in Al Ain
3. 80 air-conditioned bus stops in Al Gharbia

The total cost of the project is estimated at around Dhs100 million.

Features of the New Bus Stops

The new bus stops will offer:

• Air-conditioning
• Capacity to fit 25 people
• Manual doors
• Facilities for people with special needs
